Kim Java - Preview Gravity?


Pretty good breakdown from Kyle. I would personally at least get one car that is capable of FSD for days when I don't want to drive, and one car that you just absolutely love to drive. Options are great, and the next few years will be amazing.

This what I heard the previous team saying too, its going to bifurcate to people who likes to drive and cars like Air and Gravity will be for them, and cars for people who don't want to drive and are autonomous. For me I see no point in owning the 2nd. When I can subscribe to a service for 0.40 cents a mile I will get interested. Otherwise I will still have a dead weight depreciating appliance taking up space in my garage which gives no joy.

Sorry, I meant to say a household with two cars. Not one person with 2 cars; that would be a waste for most people out there.

for me its about safety
we've probably reached the point where autonomous driving is safer than human driving as a whole and the more people use it the safer we become

Right, but for me that is the same, we are 2 car household, I'd rather have one nicer car and no robotaxi taking space.

I agree, and I would argue just take it to the logical endpoint, people are terrible with cars, terrible with finances with cars, terrible at fixing and maintaining cars. Might as well take all that away from people who don't care to learn to drive safely and own and take care of the thing. A business with professionals running all that on the behalf seems better for most. It's not a new idea, every other country in the world with good public trains and transport already does this.

For me, the new Model Y Performance is both fun to drive and has FSD. It is my wife's though so personally I'd like a car that can also do both (why are these mutually exclusive?). The Rivian R2 and Gravity are on my shortlist for those reasons. I do not want a full on Robotaxi but autonomy is very nice to have if you do a lot of commuting and roadtrip a lot.

But agree, I normally switch vehicles often and am always looking for the next thing for me or my wife. The MYP will be a mainstay in our garage for a while for FSD mostly, but I do think the fun to drive factor is also there. Now it's just a matter of what I'll end up doing, and I do find Kim Java's journey quite interesting as I'm looking for alternatives around the same time.
 
I hope she is not getting paid to only say good things about Gravity . Tesla FSD is great , I hope Lucid and Rivian catchup Tesla soon
 
As a person closing in on my 70’s, I definitely plan to “hopefully” have a Level 4 capable car within the next 8-10 years. I remember my mother as she got into her 80’s and stopped driving at night and then only drove to places within her 5 mile comfort bubble. I also remember my and my son’s teen years. How we both survived doing some very stupid things is a miracle. In 12 years when my oldest grandson starts driving, the safety envelope that he will drive in will be significantly better that mine and son’s were.
 
I didn't know the middle of the 2nd row folds down (14:48 in the video).

Every time I look at a GM made EV it just shows me how far behind they are on engineering. They just make these big ass boats and shove ridiculous size batteries in them to make them go further. The cars are nice but I doubt they’re making any money off their EV’s with putting large batteries in them like that. Imagine charging that thing from low SOC to 100% on a roadtrip? You’d have time for dinner and a nap!

I can't figure out how to do this. The Lucid mobile service tech couldn't either! He didn't think it was supposed to do that.

I like the Equinox and Lyriq lines, the FWD models are actually pretty efficient. They need to start moving their 800v stuff down to higher-end versions of these models IMO.

Does absolutely nothing on mine....I think it may have been broken since day one...a year ago...and like I said, even the tech didn't know about it. Next service visit it will be looked at by someone else and I'll point them to this video to show it CAN do this.

I think 8-10 years is a plausible time frame for a personal vehicle. It's possible that FSD with human supervision is safer than a human driving alone (but maybe not, Tesla is cagey about releasing data), but I want a vehicle that can safely drive me when I'm not able to properly supervise. And FSD definitely isn't ready for unsupervised autonomy. It seems far from settled as to which company will deliver unsupervised autonomy for personally owned vehicles first. Depending upon where you live, leaning on robotaxi services will be available sooner.

She might be the best advertising campaign Lucid may have....smart move putting long term vehicles in key reviewers hands Lucid. Just keep the software stable and great as it's been for most and this may lead to lots of positive press for the car

What we need to really hit this home with a hammer is what I have, my 800HP 7 seater SUV costs less to drive and run than my 2014 Honda CR-V....Instead of comparing to apples like an Escalade NO-IQ...:)
