It's the fob, not the car

I received my '26 Gravity GT in late April with TWO key fobs and a key card. I know many of you, including all Gravity Touring models only received one key fob.

I'm now on 3.6.4 with near complete resolution of all bugs and issues with one key observation related to the operation of the key fob in "walk up/walk away" mode. As my wife refuses to drive the car for fear she might do something nasty (such as scrape the rims, which she has done to all of her cars), I've only used key fob #1.

On 3.6.0 key fob #1 would intermittently not awaken and open the car as I approached the car. This was always the case if I approached the car from the rear when I would need to physically use the buttons on the key fob. This got better with 3.6.3 but would there would still be 4-8 second delays in the car responding and still times I needed to use the buttons on the key fob. It didn't seem to get any better with 3.6.4.

I've replaced the batteries twice and done the key reset drill repeatedly. The key fob has been updated to the latest key fob firmware.

This past weekend I switched to using key fob #2. There are now no delays, the car ALWAYS awakens immediately when I get about 8-10 feet from the car, and I can approach the car from any direction with success.

I don't think I'll replace key fob #1 as I believe that would require a trip to a service center with the nearest center over 350 miles away. Key fob #1 is now safely stored in my desk drawer.

The real solution, though, is the Phone as a Key update that can't come soon enough. I've had PaaK on my past two cars and look forward to leaving key fob #2 in the desk drawer.

BTW, I love this car - handles like a BMW, quiet as a luxury sedan, tows my RV, more space than most minivans, a superb audio system, and I'm get over 3.5 miles/kwh when not towing.

I had issues with my both key fobs since the delivery on last day of September 2025. Key fobs would work find for a month and then massive delays, no reaction from button presses for another month+. Every time it would affect both key fobs so I thought the issue is the car (but now I'm not convinced) I would need to keep mashing my unlock button and it would unlock after 10-20 presses. Locking/unlocking/opening frunk was really frustrating. At the beginning we also had a lot of "key not detected" kind of issues that required shaking the key for 10+ seconds.
I don't remember the dates already but I think it was around December / January time when they released some updates (including key fob firmware) that improved some things. I stopped seeing "key not detected" and I was able reliably get my car in Drive. But it didn't resolve the waves of unreliability of unlocking the car whether by pressing the unlock button, driver's door handle, or by being in range of auto-unlock. Replacing batteries, restarting the key fob (remove battery, hold the unlock button for a minute, put the battery back), restarting the car (soft and hard reboot) didn't help. It would work and not work in those cycles.
I dropped off my car for service in May 2026. They fixed a number of issues I was dealing with. They also replaced my both key fobs as those were in the batch of key fobs that tend to lose buttons. Other fixes were not related at all to locking/unlocking. But since then my key fobs are 100% reliable. I had maybe 2 cases where I had to wait up to 2s next to the car to unlock (with auto-unlock). It works like the key fob supposed to work. The fact the the issue went away suggests that the issue was actually in the key fobs and not in the car. Not sure if this is solution for everyone, but it was for me. If you're dealing with something similar see if your local Service Center can replace your key fob(s).
