Interesting data! I wonder how much distaste for Musk pushes down Tesla's score. The % of failed charging attempts is a bit shocking. I know JD Powers stats can be a bit weird, but can you imagine failing to fill a gas vehicle that frequently? It'd be fascinating to break down the satisfaction with location against fast charging vehicle+charger versus slow. A hotel charging location is great because charging speed doesn't matter that much. But I suspect a Lucid owner charging at an appropriate charger has a smaller gap in satisfaction score just from the wait being so short.

One caveat on hotel destination chargers: I've run into more than my share of older Tesla wall connectors that aren't compatible with Gravity. They do work with an Air using a TeslaTap though, which fools the charger into delivering current. Next time I have trouble at a hotel L2, I'm going to try stacking a NACS to J1772 adapter with a TeslaTap to trick the charger for Gravity.

actually can't say I've ever had a problem with tesla superchargers on the gravity. The EVGO and EA on the other hand I have had problems on

No problems for me all around. I just pick whoever had the best nearby amenities

It works. I tried it last week. I only got 3kw though. I doubt that had anything to do with the adapters but not 100% sure.

2 reasons I prioritize SCs lower... Lower power (500v), and still so many V2s that are useless to us.

Without those negatives, I'd rate SCs way higher (just below Ionna).

There's also the issue of the membership discount, which seems like a positive but really end up being a negative overall. It ruins the convenience of P&C. Be better if they just charged everyone the same price somewhere in the middle.

The main problem is the "winning" chargers are not an option anywhere i'm traveling. So therefore Tesla wins by default. Once Ionna/Mercedes/Rivian get enough penetration where they are useful then I'd condier this poll useful. As it is now it is 💩

No idea what MB and Rivian's expansion plans look like, but Ionna is steadily building out locations.

I hate the whole membership discount thing with a passion. To me, it's basically saying that we don't know how to get customer loyalty by providing a superior product/service, so we're going to try to lock you in with other measures. And I'm not talking just about charging networks: my distaste extends to all other companies that try similar tactics. For charging, I just want to be able to drive to the most convenient charger, put my car in, plug in and charge, and drive away. Exactly like I would do with a gas station. No app on my phone, no membership I need to sign up for.

Based on my last two road trips, I would rate Tesla dead last. My preferred networks in order and why.
1. Ionna - perfect each time (6 charges), best price
2. EA - Power limited to 16kW once, other 7 charges were great
3. Pilot GM - One charge, power limited by station to 298kW, expensive
4. Rivian - one charge, all four chargers limited to 49 kW, expensive
5. Tesla - Kayenta AZ site down with no notice on app for two weeks, repeated disconnects at Blanding Utah, Slow charging in Moab Utah. (6 charges and 2 unsuccessful attempts)

I wouldn't so much mind the discount if it were like one of those gas loyalty discounts at the grocery store (10 cents off). That's like 3%. I'd be fine forgoing a 3% discount to keep P&C. But the Tesla and EA membership discounts are a whopping 25% (approx). That's hard to pass up. And of course once you pay for the membership, you feel locked into that network (by design).

I hope public pressure eventually forces Tesla and EA to drop their membership discounts and just charge a fair rate to everyone. Or in the absence of that, they find a way to pass the membership discounts through to P&C.
