Although I will say, another Gravity appeared in my neighborhood last week, so maybe we consume far too much bad press ourselves here....
 
I think they are going to hate to lose FSD. They seem way too addicted to it, but the Gravity does make much more sense for them.

With promises of point to point by the end of this year, turning to hands free next year, I wouldn't be surprised if they're willing to make the short term compromise.

You truly believe that? I'd buy another Lucid if that's the case, but I'm very very doubtful. I put Rivian with a slight edge, but even then, it's very very skeptical.

FSD has drastically improvement in qualifty of life, but not for people who like to drive. I'm definitely not one of them. To each of our own.

I do. If anything, I think Rivian would have a tougher go because their entire system is built in house. Nvidia's Alpamayo VLA model, Nvidia's data sets, Nvidia's Drive AV and Nvidia's Drive Orin along with the relatively robust sensor suite Lucids have had since day one should allow them to develop this tech far quicker than Tesla was ever able to.

This is why it doesn't really make sense when people look at Teslas progression and say Lucid or Rivian's current tech is "x" years behind Tesla. Tesla didn't start using their end-to-end neural network system until November 2023, when they rolled out FSD v12. That is, of course, when FSD actually started to get very good. Now with access to reasoning VLA models, development is even quicker.

They'll still have FSD in their orange Model Y. Plus it sounds like they're prepping to give the Model X to the oldest kid. Helluva first ride. So they won't be "without" FSD. I actually think it'll be a good test of Lucid's strongpoints. Will DreamDrive Pro 2 plus all of the amenities and capabilities provided be enough to disrupt the Tesla train?

Agree, and her old HW3 Model X isn't anywhere near as functional FSD as their HW4 Model Y.
 
She's done some Gravity content before and it was pretty even handed. Gravity has gotten better since then, but there are a lot of "take for granted" features in the Tesla software that she's not going to find here. There are also the occasional glitches that remain. It really kind of depends on what she focuses on.

I respectfully disagree. FSD 12 and 13 are actual trash to me; it's not until HW4 with FSD 14 that it has actually gotten good enough to rely on it. In my honest opinion, Lucid or Rivian won't get to FSD 14 capability for another year. They might come out of the gate with something similar to FSD 12, but be extremely happy to be proven wrong. FSD needs a competitor, like, seriously.
 
I absolutely loathe driving, just too much driving over the years, killing my back slowly. If there's a decent alternative to Tesla, I'd hop on that wagon to try it immediately.

This timeline sounds right to me. I don't disagree that FSD 14 is a lot better than FSD 12. My point was that they progressed quickly once FSD 12 was released, and new tools allow them to progress even quicker today.
 
Mmm, I tried it the other day but it’s too slow to react and frustrated me too much. I just took over, it was less stressful for me to drive. If I have to stare at the road and my hand immediately available, what’s the point!
 
I'm encouraged that they sat her down with one of Lucid's dev team to go through the feature set and thinking behind the upcoming Lucid Assistant. If Lucid is going to rely on content creators for informing Lucid owners and prospective customers, that's the kind of hands-on engagement they need to have with them. I don't care so much that they don't get the average customer experience as I care that the relationship helps the company succeed, gain valued feedback, and continue to support us.

I do agree with you but the reality will likely be that if she does get the Gravity. And the Dream Drive or other software features perform under what she’s used to in Tesla, she’s going to be very vocal about it. She is clearly VERY happy and much of a fan of Tesla for a long time and switching out now bc her needs have changed, is a great thing, but if she ends up feeling she downgraded in tech department, i dont think she’ll ultimately be happy. Even if Gravity is far better in every other way. Her family strikes me more as a ‘I want my vehicle to drive me’ than ‘I want to engage and drive my vehicle’ types. So Lucid will likely always feel like a step down for them over time, even tho they loved the short review times they had the Gravity. We’ll see. I just hope it turns into positive exposure and not another Jason video bc they simply dont like the car vs Tesla (FSD).
 
Kim just uploaded update on this video and she did get a long term Gravity loaner (like OOS) to drive. She complains about primitive DDP without handfree or slow down for turns. Lucid really needs to do a better job of briefing people getting these press cars before sending them off.
