Hi,
I’m considering the newly announced Gravity GT-S. I haven’t seen anything regarding whether it’s a limited edition model such as the DE. Is it?

Any thoughts on it? I know it’s a bit expensive.

I believe the GT-S fills the void left by the limited edition DE. I was lucky enough to get the DE and am loving it. I would get the GT-S if I was ordering now.

I love the new blue & red exterior colors that are being proposed - I would have ordered one of those colors if they had been available! The blue interior and brake caliper accents make things pop, giving that sports car version feeling.

I’d sill get the 20/22 wheels with the aero covers for range, so the brake calipers wouldn’t be seen, though.

Im not sure what you mean when you say the calipers won’t be seen. What wheel size(s) would allow them to be seen?
 
The larger wheels (21/22 and 22/23) do not have the nearly full wheel coverings like the 20/21 wheel set. That's what @Saksak was talking about.

Take a look at the Lucid site to see pics of the different wheel sizes. The largest wheels have no aero covers and the calipers are very easily seen.
 
On the GT-S only the 21/22 and 22/23 are available in the online builder.
 
I went to the Lucid site and couldn't see the blue color option. Regardless, as a rock collector, I have to laugh that they call the red "sapphire red." Sapphires come in almost every color of the rainbow, EXCEPT red. When the gemstone is red, it's called a "ruby" :p
 
Yeah, they only have the contact form for the limited edition colors. And I had the same thought about sapphire red 😀
 
The Air GT-P wasn’t originally meant to be limited edition. But then they sold some, and once they hit a certain amount, they declared it done.

I suspect the same will be true for Gravity GT-S. Allow those who missed out on DE to essentially get the same thing. But then close it down once demand slows down.

It’s a nice, easy way to make some extra cash while waiting for Cosmos to ship.

I was similarly confused, but without knowing much I thought they were all blue. I had to rely on an internet search that pointed out this oddity in their naming, but the "AI" overview also mentioned that there are red sapphires, but they are not truly red like rubies. Is that true? Even if it is, the red they chose seems too close to what you would call "ruby" to sneak by on that technicality.
 
I believe the blue they refer to is blue trim throughout such as interior blue trim, blue calipers, and many other places. It’s the distinctive styling. See images.

Sapphires and rubies are the gem form of a mineral called corundum. In the "old days" they didn't realize that these gems were actually all the same mineral, so for historical reasons, they keep calling the red ones rubies. There are small chemical impurities that impart the color to them. Chromium makes rubies red, for example. Sapphires with no impurities are naturally "white" or clear, and are made of aluminum and oxygen. So technically speaking, you could argue that sapphires are transparent aluminum. (cue Star Trek IV)

I'd be curious to see who calls them "red sapphires."

The Gravity has an optional blue paint job, while the Air has red.
 
Now I see the blue exterior but it doesn’t appear in the configuration tool.

I also haven’t heard whether there’s a surcharge or extra cost for the Sapphire Blue. If so, I think that’s petty given cost of the car. I plan to get all options putting the total close to $130,000. I would balk though at any additional cost for Sapphire Blue.
 
IIRC, the sapphire color on the Air wasn’t simple and required multiple extra coats. So between that and its uniqueness I wouldn’t be surprised by a small upcharge.
