They are simply Android apps, and yes, written by the respective companies. I don’t love it either, but fwiw that’s how it works for most manufacturers.


I agree it isn’t ideal, but that is how it works, across the ecosystem, as I understand it.


It’s just an Android app. Last time I used Tidal on Android it also sucked. Is it possible tidal on Android just sucks?

The Tidal app for Android phones is not bad IMO, very similar structure and functionality as Spotify's

Tidal's native AAOS app on our AAOS/GAS Volvo EV is very similar in function to Tidal's app on Lucid cars, except not as pretty. It and Spotify have very similar structure and limitations, leading me to believe that streaming platforms' app writing efforts consist of just filling in the details for some generic streaming app that Google created for AAOS.

On the plus side, there are now hundreds of apps available in the app store for native AAOS/GAS cars, including Youtube Music, Pandora, Amazon Music, Youtube, HBOMax, Paramount+, Google Chrome, Home Assistant, etc, and of course full Google Maps with excellent EV routing and police/accident notifications and reporting. And of course Waze. On the minus side, 90% of the other apps seem to be crapware.

I do love Lucid's beautiful UX compared to that of AAOS/GAS cars, but am still of the opinion that an open, app-store oriented UX is much more functional, modern solution. An ecosystem rather than a closed-source blackberry.

I'd like for the lady who designed the Gravity's interior to take a crack at designing the visual interface of some of the infotainment screens. The A/V display, in particular, looks like an engineer designed it for efficient functionality. When I'm driving along for hours, I'd like it to be aestheticalky pleasing and informative at a glance. Perhaps let it go to a screen saver with large album art and a clear track list in a pleasing font.
