Anyone else unable to latch the center section of the 2nd row back into place?

I’m hoping someone has run into this before and can tell me if I’m missing something.

I folded the center section of the 2nd row forward, and now I can’t get it to latch back into its upright position no matter what I try.

I’ve tried:
  • Pushing it firmly into place.
  • Making sure the 3rd-row seat isn’t interfering.
  • Checking that the latch pin appears to line up with the striker.
  • Inspecting both sides for any obvious obstructions.

Everything looks normal to me, but the seat simply refuses to lock. It just bounces back as if the latch never engages.
I’ve attached a few photos in case someone spots something I’m overlooking.
Has anyone experienced this before?
  • Is there a release lever or reset procedure I may have accidentally triggered?
  • Could the latch have become stuck in the closed position?
  • Any tricks before I schedule yet another service visit?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Solved! Though it remains a bit of a mystery how that center section got unlatched in the first place?! Is that that strap behind the center head rest? It seems locked, however I pull it.

It turns out the center section won’t latch unless the driver-side 2nd-row seatback is fully reclined.
I had to use the recline lever on the outboard (driver-side) seat (shown in the photo below) and bring the seatback completely back. Once I did that, the center section immediately latched into place with the rest of the seat.
Apparently, even if the driver-side seatback is only slightly reclined forward, it prevents the center section from engaging the latch.
Posting this here in case it saves someone else a trip to the service center!

Hard to say here? Maybe pull the main trunk levers to get the seats all the way folded down together? In other words see if you can get the middle and side down together and essentially reset everything and bring it back up together? For example the side seat has to be also up and locked in whatever it thinks is the vertical seat position.

Oh yeah, I tried folding them multiple times, that didn't help. Only pulling that lever to recline the seat all the way helped. But thanks. I now understand that this is called a "passthrough" and other forum members had troubles with it (per my search), but I couldn't find the solution untill I figured it out, purely by chance (Gravity's manual doesn mention that passthrough afaik)
