I've noticed that after the app showing charging completed, the green light is still on and I would need to wait a minute or 2 before being able to pull the cable out.
Is this what you see with your Gravity or do I need to contact SC?

Unlock the car and press the button below the green lights to disengage the cable any time. You can then pull the cable out. No need to wait for charging to finish.

Thanks. Somehow I didn't know about this button. This is embarrasing.

I've never had to press that button in any charging situation.
I unlock the door(s) and I'm able to remove the charging cable.
If the doors are already unlocked, I'm able to remove the charging cable.

.On our Volvo, I always have to press the button. Not always on Gravity. I don't remember which circumstances there require a button press.

Yes, the car is unlocked.
The green light is still on despite the app showing charge completed.
I would need to wait a minute or 2 before being able to remove the cable.

On the EQS, there's also the button to stop charging.
Additionally, I could select an option to automatically unlock the cable upon charge completion.
I really like this feature because I don't need to unlock the car or have the fob/phone with me.
Very convenient when the charging is at home.

You do not need to complete charging. You could also start driving earlier if you like if you hit the button to stop charging and unplug

My guess is that either charging finished or you happened to pressed the button to interrupt charging. It takes very little time after interrupting charging to be able to remove the handle.

Both of the following conditions need to be true in order to pull out the handle:
  1. Car is unlocked. Prevents someone from “stealing” the station, stopping your charging session and plugging in their own car.
  2. Car is not charging. Physically disconnecting wires while current is flowing will result in arcing, which will melt/damage components or start a fire.

So going back to your original question, I would just continue pushing the button to release the cable versus a service appointment. Especially considering the possible wait time for an appointment and it could be, for whatever reason, this is how your car functions. Service may say the same about how your car functions, and you've used up your time in the process. The button solves the 1 to 2 minute wait.

Service will just tell you this is expected behavior. Push the button in order to disconnect.
