Creep mode default setting?

I doubt it’s easy as the setting is in two spots and still doesn’t care about what you want…
Well that is the whole point of profiles... caring about what people want. Remembering their configuration settings so they don't have to change a slew of settings every time they get in the car. They included most, but they left that glaring one out.

Every touch on the screen triggers an action. Profiles automatically trigger a batch of actions. Seems likely that would be simple to add to the list (just like many other EVs do).

Failing that, the next logical approach would be to go old school and just default all settings to the last way they were left on the previous drive.

Did you forget the time they had to strip out a bunch of animations and adjustments from the seat menu to let other things work? It’s probably not super straight forward. I troubleshoot for a living so I get to hear both sides.

Animations are a form of video though, which uses magnitudes more processing power than a simple setting.

There's only one potential complication I can think of with CREEP/HOLD setting -- it can't be changed when the brake pedal is depressed. If you have your foot on the pedal, even changing it on the pilot panel does nothing. You have to have your foot off the pedal to change it. Maybe they felt that would mess people up. But that really doesn't make sense either because the car nearly always boots up before the driver even gets into the seat.
 
Any update on this? My wife and I both prefer creep mode and Regen braking off but the car will not remember these settings for us. In fact I noticed default regen braking just recently changed from standard to high. Wtf.
Agree on the CREEP part. There is no right or wrong on that one, it's just a personal preference for how one likes to drive, especially for the small, precise moves in a garage or parking spot. I like CREEP better.

But for REGEN, as I understand it that's gotta be a major hit to efficiency to leave that turned off all the time since unlike many EVs, the Gravity doesn't use blended braking on the brake pedal. While REGEN is off, there's no recapture of any slowing energy, at all. Around town in stop & go driving, there's gotta be a lot of potential energy failing to be recaptured.

Some say that cruising on the highway might be tiny bit more efficient with REGEN off, and that coasting is better there. I'm not so sure about that, but either way it's likely a tiny difference. But not in stop&go traffic in the city, and not on long downhill stretches in the mountains.

I do wish the Gravity offered one more REGEN setting level though, that's more of a "medium". I find both REGEN settings to be very strong. I haven't driven a lot of EVs but compared to what I have driven, I'd say the Gravity's "Standard" regen is about an 8 on a 1-10 scale, and "High" a 9. I wish they would offer a 5 too, which would be smoother to modulate with the accelerator pedal (more spread out) yet still be enough to handle 98% of normal driving without having to add friction brakes. It should also lesson some of the harshness (what I characterized as an "anchor drop") when canceling out of ACC.
 
when cancelling acc, just hit the accelerator until you feel vehicle speeding up and then cut it, that’s the smoothest way I found to kill it.
Sure, that's always the normal way to try and cancel out of ACC. And in other EVs it's usually easily done smoothly because of softer regen and better pedal modulation (wider pedal play). The Gravity makes that more difficult because of (1) such strong regen, and (2) such a tight acc pedal (more difficult to modulate speed because they pack so much speed (0-155) into a short pedal range, as well as map some of that range even narrower for regen). I little pedal movement makes a much bigger speed change (either a surge or a slowing jolt) than most EVs.

That "speed up" part you target isn't just a gradual little increase that's barely noticeable to passengers like it is in most EVs, it's a noticeable surge, where they look over at you thinking "what was that?". Same way if you come up just a bit short of target when hitting that X. You have to really hit the bullseye perfectly on this car relative to most others to avoid the harshness. Seems like they should be able to fine-tune that better somehow.
 
Mine's an Air, Gravity hopeful is the same. Choice is "Creep", "Hold", "Roll". With roll the brakes are never automatically applied. I find great when street parking on a grade. Use pedal to go one direction, gravity to go the other, never shifting.

It's only CREEP and HOLD in the Gravity. So I guess ROLL is basically like neutral in a gas car?
 
I didn't know they didn't offer it on the Gravity. Thats unfortunate. Its like parking a car with manual transmission. I leave it as default, and it stays (unlike creep). I know some will scream "one pedal driving" but I don't mind using the brakes to stop the car once its under 3 mph.

Same here. The regen is so strong that I almost never have to touch the brake pedal until the last ~3 MPH anyway. And I'd rather use the brake pedal down there for that incremental "fine tuning".

But I like creep always trying to push it forward slowly too. Without creep I'd have to move back over to the acc pedal from a stop to give it a tiny push in my garage or a parking space, then jump quickly back to the brake pedal. Which is what I want to avoid. I find I can fine-tune the low speed and position much better with the brake pedal than the acc pedal.

And 1PD uses friction brakes below ~3 MPH anyway, so it really doesn't affect the efficiency.

For those that think regen is too high when stopping, are you lifting completely off the accelerator? If so, try managing your deceleration rate with the accelerator, instead. Even with high regen, it’s easy to modulate the accelerator to gently stop.

As for ACC. I usually disengage when I want to slow down, anyway. It used to be difficult to keep it to a gentle deceleration, but I found that the 3.6.0 tuning helped quite a bit in smoothing out the ACC disengagement and allowing you to control the transition better. I’m not saying further improvement isn’t needed, but the last update made it much better.

Regen is not taking you to a complete stop in HOLD (1PD) mode, even though it may appear that way. The friction brakes are kicking in for the low end of that. The car is just doing that automatically for you when you turn HOLD on.

It's not that regen is too high when stopping, it's higher than I prefer when slowing. Or described more accurately, it's too much relative to the degree the pedal is lifted. A lighter regen level means lifting the pedal the same 10% only slows you at a -0.2G rate instead of a -0.3G rate (purely made-up numbers just to describe the effect). More gentle slowing for the same pedal movement. That means lighter regen gives you more pedal room to make more gentle micro adjustments.

I haven't noticed much difference yet with 3.6.0 making ACC cancel a smoother transition. I was hoping it would but when I read someone (maybe you?) mention it here, maybe I was expecting too much. I could barely tell the difference (if any). Sometimes I wonder if my 3.6.0 fully loaded. 😄

By carefully lifting the accelerator pedal I can get the car down to 1-2mph rolling up to the car in front of me at stoplights and time the light so I don't actually stop and lose momentum. If it's a longer light and I have to stop completely I just lift a bit more and the friction brake kicks in w/o having to press the brake pedal. I can see wanting to switch to Creep to do small adjustments in a tight garage space but I've learned to coast into my spot at 1-2mph and let Hold do it's thing.

You'd still be able to do that with a medium regen level too though. For a normal slowdown approaching a stoplight, we're only using a portion of the full negative G-force the Gravity is capable of (which we feel when lifting completely off the acc pedal at a higher speed). That's how strong the regen is. With a another option for a medium level of regen (say, 30% less strong), it would still slow down to 3 MPH with regen, just in 100 feet instead of 70 feet (again, made-up numbers just to describe the effect). Both of which are way faster slowing that needed for most normal driving.

The advatage, though, is that spreading that lesser amount of regen out over the same pedal range means it's easier to be more gentle with it, and to find the "just right" amount because there's more room in the pedal. Kinda like how different gear ratios work in a manual transmission.

Starting to slow down 100ft away from a stopped car at a stoplight in my experience would just invite/allow one or more cars to dart in there at the last min requiring me to use the friction brakes to avoid a collision. Rather slow down quickly at the last possible min to keep weasels from cutting into my lane....but then,

I love Gravity's regeneration's strength. Guess I got used to it on a Model 3 Performance. I don't have any problems gently modulating it and have never had any complaints from passengers.
But then I've always preferred a stick shift and a large, high compression engine. On one of my cars, you could chirp the rear tires by lifting off the gas too quickly.

Oh I'd never turn regen off. I absolutely want to recapture all that energy, which a medium level of regen would still do. That's my point, that there's so much excess regen strength now that it could be turned down 30% and still almost never get max'd out. But it would allow me to modulate the regen much better along the way, and make the movements less harsh and more gradual.
 
I'd like to have the option to default to creep in two scenarios: always when in Reverse and when in Drive, when the parking sensors sense something and the 360 display kicks-in.
100% agree. Just let us set our driving preferences. Parallel parking and fine controlling is way easier with creep
