3rd row 'noise' over speed bumps

I have been driving with my third row folded down and stowed in the storage area. When I am going over speed bumps at a fairly low speed (for example, under 10 mph), as the rear wheels come down after going over the speed bump, there's a thump like something is moving. I think it is the back seats bouncing around in that storage area. Has anybody else run across this? If so, how have you solved the noise problem?
 
I haven't had the issue though I drive with one of the 3rd row stowed. But I also store a blanket in there for covering the trunk when carrying dirty stuff, so it mutes everything likely. I get squeaks because I keep my AC adapter in the little wheel well storage...

Yes, same issue. No idea of the solve but would be curious if others have done so.
 
I have same issue. Not all the time but definitely if you hit speed bump above 5mph.
 
Yes, I have occasionally experienced the same while going over speed bumps - while stowed, the 3rd row seats don't really lock into place and so they move around a little bit, even with the floor cover in place.
 
For what it's worth, I tried putting a pool noodle under both of the seats. There was some pressure applied to it when the seats are folded down, but that was not enough to stop the thud when going over a speed bump.

It happens with the 5-seater also, so not the 3rd row seats. And below 5mph too, in every ride height. Plus potholes. Feels more to me like hitting the bump stops

I have experienced that from the front end as well, distinct from the 3rd row bouncing. Neither occurs every time, but they are distinct noises.

I never noticed until this post, as I sometimes have stuff in the back and just expect thumps as I go over speed bumps. Now I have to retrain my brain to go back to filtering it out 🤣.
 
There are two ways to store the third row seats - I found both. Wrong way caused that bumping sound, correct way eliminated it.

Just make sure you have them properly stowed, in case it is something like I experienced.

What's the right way? The seats were stowed during orientation with the Lucid employee watching.

There's no thump now with the 3rd row seats up.

I had stowed the seats in the compartment and noted the thumping sound. When I looked, the seats weren't "seated" (sorry) - they could be moved a little. When I put them back up, I was very deliberate that each piece went down, sat flush and seemed fully "seated" in the lowest position. I didn't hear a thump after that.

I do not stow my seats often, however I am very careful to make all the parts fit down to their lowest position in the trunk. Perhaps I am stating something that doesn't apply here, but there is definitely a way to get the seats in that trunk in an less than optimal fashion.

I will have to take another look when I have a chance. I know that when I originally looked at the seats, the folded part of the seat closest to the edge of the trunk while in the storage area, if you push down on the folded seat, there was space for the seat to move down more. It also felt like there was room around the hinges for the seat to move around as well.

I played around with stowing yesterday, and I couldn’t find the incorrect/correct way of stowing. They stowed the same way every time.

When stowed, the seats can move around, as there is no securing mechanism. Depending on how fast you drive over the speed bump, they can move up/down and hit the cover and/or bottom. For me, this isn’t a big deal, as I try to go over speed bumps gently for less wear and tear on the suspension and to not toss around anything I may be carrying.

Also, unless I need the extra cargo space, I keep the third row seats up. I figure it’s better for the cushions/leather to be in the upright position and not under compression.

I’ve found that it doesn’t make the noise when the seats are up and folded down, and the floor cover is at the upright “stretch” position. I think the sound is coming from the cover portion of the floor board - where the elastic “hinge” is allowing the flap to move up and down over bumps.

If this is true then simply tossing a thin pillow over the seatbacks when stored prior to replacing the cover should dampen the thumping noise.
 
I've tried with a noodle, either under the seat in the compartment or between the seat and the 'wall' with the hinges. So far, the noodle is not quite enough to dampen the noise.
