I need to vent here, but hopefully this isn't the wrong place...

Recently just had a few negative experiences with my local service center. One seemed like just a mistake so I'm not going to get upset about it, but today's seems more like either incompetence or lying and I'm really bothered by it.

Long story short, I was putting my 21" wheels on the car last weekend and noticed a small bubble in one of the fronts. I called the local SC and they were nice enough to get me in within 2 days to install a new tire. I get the car back and notice that my Lucid valve stem cap was no longer on the car (not a big deal) but also there were a bunch of significant scratches in the wheel (a big deal). I called them to let them know and just asked that they address it at my next service visit (I'm already on the schedule for something unrelated in August). They said that would be fine.

Fast forward a few days and I finally get my first highway drive with the new tire. The wobbling was unbelievable. Clearly they didn't balance the new tire well. I called them and they said I'd have to bring it in, again, which is a huge inconvenience for me at this point. But I manage to bring it in earlier today. First, the SA looks at the scrapes and tries to tell me that they were already there and I must have hit a curb or they were from the pothole. I'm like uh, they very much were NOT there. I'm super anal about these things and I would have absolutely noticed. Then they went to balance the tire and came back telling me they can't because the wheel is bent.

Ugh. So, like, why not tell me the damn wheel is bent when you first tried to install the tire? Clearly if you couldn't properly balance it today, you also couldn't the other day, so what is the deal?

Either way, I'm extremely frustrated about this. I know the 21" wheels are typically shit and I regret buying them. But I don't appreciate the complete shirking of responsibility on their part. Maybe they're tired of me, though, because this is not the first time I've brought the car in and it's come back worse than it went in.

So can I report this to Lucid NA or something? Or do those of us who have bad SC experiences just have to deal with it?

That's super frustrating. I don't see any reason not to try reaching out to Lucid about it but I wouldn't hold my breath for a favorable resolution.

I expect better from Lucid but sadly it's not an uncommon tale in the automotive world. Years ago the principal of my local Audi owner's club chapter had his RS5 returned from the local dealer after service with scratches all up and down the passenger side, someone had obviously taken it out for a joyride that ended badly. The dealer insisted the vehicle was dropped off in that condition and refused any responsibility.

I found taco sauce on my Audi headliner after a service visit, sigh.

Gotta ask a few questions.
  1. Did you notice the scratch BEFORE or AFTER you left the service center?
  2. How far is it from home to service center?
  3. Did you experience wheel wobble immediately upon driving the vehicle post service?
  4. Is it possible that you hit a pothole on the way home from the service center?
