All I can tell ya is our '23 Tesla has the ability to drive itself point-to-point. Our '23 Lucid does not. Personally, I don't really care because I rarely use the FSD. I prefer to drive. But I have witnessed it pull out of our garage, drive all the way to the gym / Costco / my in-laws' residences / et cetera and park itself. Whether in a parking lot between lines, in a driveway, or at a curb. It does that. Lucid cannot do that and Tesla does it with just cameras. I give them credit for the accomplishment even if I don't have a leaning to use it myself.

The Air on the other hand, with all the sensors or Lidar can't go point to point yet. Can't pull itself out of my garage. Can't change lanes without me asking it to. And, a recent find on my part, can only auto-park between two parked vehicles. Clearly Tesla does much more with less. Now, there is no doubt that the capability that it has now has only been evident for the better part of a year, even though Musk was saying "by the end of the year" for arguably the past 7 or 8 years, so there's that. The only aspect of full self driving (intentionally not capitalized) that it does not do (yet) is eyes-off navigation. It'll be interesting to see if they get there before GM gets there with SuperCruise. GM has already said 2027 Escalade iQ will have eyes-off.

No redundancy in Tesla, it’s a short cut unsafe way of trying to achieve it. I rest my case…..

This point right here. The reason why we have engineered safety factors (e.g. more carrying capacity than what is written on the spec sheet) and redundant systems is because people have died. Our safety regulations are written in blood.

The pursuit of cost reduction at the expense of redundant safety systems (or safety as a whole) is a hard line that I will never accept being crossed.

sweet, that just means an easy 10-15 years before we get 1MW chargers readily available :P

I would not argue with that. Part of my reason for not really being a fan. But at the same time I have to admit. It freakin' works. Undeniably works. And a L-O-T of people (too many in my opinion) make buying decisions based on FSD. Kinda like the "Intel Inside" campaign from years ago where people would only buy a computer that had Intel chips.

He got wealthy from PayPal (and was fired) but has made his name providing funding, vision, and hiring great talent to achieve his goals. I am sure there are other behind-the-scenes figures at SpaceX, Tesla, xAI who are unsung but are the true geniuses.

He has a physics degree and engineering is simply applied physics. He also co-founded Zip2 and sold it for about ~$300M before X.com which then merged and became PayPal. Yes he was fired. I would say that kinda worked out for him.

Just because I state the facts above does not mean I am a fan. I just like the truth.

Selling companies doesn’t make you a “ real engineer”

I have both a physics degree and an engineering degree, and know when they align and where they depart.

"Engineering is simply applied physics" is a unworkable simplification, which I state from "facts".

Buy coal stock now all those megawatts aren’t coming from renewables if some people continue to get their way
Does anyone seriously see megawatt chargers laying around while data centers suck up any available energy.
So 125 of these stations will draw 125 MW from the grid upscale and we get to 1.25GW I don’t see these anywhere not close to a power station simply due to our ancient grid

I think Musk is a complete tool, but I don't see how you can diminish his accomplishments. Whether you like it or not, he has proven to be a visionary, and perhaps more importantly, he isn't afraid to fail.

This is the heart of Lucid, and what many of us fell in love with.

The Gravity carries on that tradition.

If I recall correctly this was the very video that turned me from a skeptic to a believer in Lucid
