I'll start of by saying that I love my gravity that I've had for 3 months and have driven over 4k miles already. But this is really bothering me today. I don't get the inconsistencies in ride height adjustment and now I'm left with a large gash under my front skid plate... This is mostly just a long rant, sorry in advance.

So took the gravity for a weekend trip and while there were visiting some parks with uneven and sometimes steep gravel lots and some awkward curbs. No big deal I thought, the gravity has an adjustable height just for this purpose. I even made sure on the first stop of the day that no one opened their doors until the car made it to the highest ride position. No doors hit the curb bc of that, off to a great start! Kept the car in heighest and drove to the next stop. Didn't hit more than 35 mph while going there and the next lot had a steep approach. No worries I thought, I put this car at highest. Went in slowly and CRUNCH. Shoot, the car somehow is on standard again?! Got out and there's a bunch of scratches including some deep gashes. W. T. F. Can't do anything else now so went about the rest of my day. Kept checking to make sure the car stayed in highest. Looks like when driving over about 30mph it switches to high, and over 50ish it changes to standard, but when slowing back down it goes back up. Great, so wtf happened to me this morning when it went back to standard? Was it because the car was parked so it was a new drive and it reset? That's stupid, if I needed the heighest setting to park somewhere I'll likely need it to leave the same area. And ride height isn't visible unless you're on the main screen, but you lose that whenever the copilot is managing the music, climate, seats, navigation, etc. And why isn't ride height one of the settings that can be assigned to any of the wild card buttons like the one on the steering wheel? That would be used so much more than the drive mode setting or any of the other ones.

Anyway I guess I should just be annoyed at myself for not triple checking that bit still. I'm currently annoyed at the car, and now it's got it's first battle scar, and it's a big one (in addition to all the dust and crumbs that I need to clean still). Sure it isn't visible easily but it's big enough that I can notice the uneven bottom surface when walking towards my car, though I doubt anyone else can. I'm not sure what I'm doing to do about it, if anything. It doesn't seem structural at all and I'm sure it'll cost an arm and a leg to fix so maybe I just let it be, but my cars no longer in pristine condition :(

The Gravity resets to standard when it goes to sleep and then wakes up again (so parked with the key out of range).

Yep, guess that explains it. I guess it just boils down to the fact that I should have triple checked the ride height each time with where I was that day, and still annoyed at myself for that. Who knows how expensive of a mistake that was.

In 100% agreement that ride height should be one of the selectable button choices and that I'd use that MUCH more that drive mode!!

As such I try not to use the "Auto" Ride Height setting as it adjusts to settings other than what I want at times. Generally, if you select a certain ride height (which turns off "Auto" mode) it stays there unless you change it unlike when you leave it on "Auto". So for instance if I selected Low to drive in, when I'm a block or two away from my destination I'll raise it to High so my passengers won't scrape the doors when they exit the vehicle.
As posted in another thread on here, I do have Easy entry/exit is set to "Highest" to prevent that as well but it activates way too slowly and ppl pop the doors open right when you stop and can scrape them on curbs so although the concept of it is great, the execution of the feature is nearly useless.

While you wouldn’t want to pop up your passengers like toast you’d think they could make it a little faster. On the other hand, it is lifting a 6000+lb load.

Another revelation that I had about this over the last few days - so the car doesn't reset to standard immediately after waking, only after driving off a bit. So let's say you parked near a high curb and put in on highest. If you walk away and then come back and it resets in the meantime, the car will still be on highest, which is good since the car is still next to that high curb.

So that's what happened in my scenario, I sat back in the car and before moving, saw that it still showed highest ride get and thought I was good to stay in highest while getting to my next stop. However, it must have reset back to standard as soon as I started moving, and I didn't realize it because I was driving and my passenger likely changed the screen to manage climate or something else.
