I have a GGT, and am using a Tesla Mobile Charger (v2) at a campsite on the 240V 50A outlet. It prepares to charge, then stops and restarts. It does this a few times and then starts successfully and charges. Anyone know why this happens? Should I be concerned? L2 charging at home (both with Lucid and same Tesla mobile chargers) work fine.

While the campsite explicitly allows EV charging, I still lower it to 24A (we use about 10A on the 120V 30A receptacle). I always bring my Tesla MC since I have a TT-30 adapter for it in case the 50A is unavailable.

I noticed that on 2 different Tesla destination chargers at BW hotels. I think the Gravity just can't believe the charger is only going to deliver 3kw charging and wants to verify :)
 
I've tried 4 different Tesla destination chargers at 2 different casinos in Reno today. The car just says CABLE CONNECTED then sits there. Neither site is in the Tesla app as controlled. They're both supposed to be free chargers.

Does the Gravity not work on Tesla destination chargers???
 
My understanding is that Tesla destination chargers are basically the same as the wall connector charges you can install at home. It should work fine with destination chargers. You don't have scheduled charging on, do you?

Sounds like others aren't getting any of the common (older) Tesla destination chargers to work either. Ugh. It's one thing after another with this car. 😒

I've tried 5 in the last 24 hours. Just says CABLE CONNECTED then does nothing. Another fail by Lucid. I've charged our Porsche Macan on these same chargers, using my Teslatap adapter.

Anyone tried using 2 adapters? NACS-to-J1772, and then back to NACS? I wonder if that might fool it? I didn't bring my Teslatap on this trip to try it.

Unfortunately it's the older destination chargers. If the hotel has the older units, there's a good chance they wont work on Gravity. Some hotels I've stayed at...
 
IIRC the older Tesla destination chargers don't work with anything except a Tesla. So not specific to Gravity

We used the older ones at many hotels for 5 years in our Mach-E from 2021-2025. That's why we got the TeslaTap 6 years ago. I don't remember hearing of any J-1772 EVs that's didn't work on destination chargers, although maybe there were a few?

Wow, that's good to know. Do you know how to identify the incompatible chargers? I always assume that a L2 NACS will be compatible with the Gravity (and others), but if that's not the case, I'll need to ask the AirBnB/hotel/etc. to check (and probably explain to them how to check).

I have a Gen 2 Wall Connector and it charges my Gravity. According to this article: https://thedriven.io/2023/09/15/ev-...sla-electric-car-with-a-tesla-wall-connector/ it shouldn't? The article was written in 2023 so maybe things have changed.
 
I do not know how to tell (although someone above corrected me that what I said is not the case). The L2 tesla charger I used did not work but the CCS charger right next to it did (chargepoint IIRC, it was free at a winery we were at)

They look the same from the front, unfortunately. Looks like the best way to tell is look at the holster for the handle on the right side. The new ones (that work on the Gravity) have the built-in adapter that the handle holsters in when not in use (see pic). The old ones (that don't work on the Gravity) just have a slick, deep opening that the handle physically rests inside.

So basically, you wanna see that adapter in there like this pic.

As noted above but maybe not clear enough, after you get to the sitting there part, unplug and within a few seconds, try it again. Haven't had it not work after the second or third try. There may be pretty old Tesla destination chargers this doesn't work on but I haven't found one and some of them looked pretty old and beat up.

I just tried that 5 times but no success. Actually 2 of the 3 I tried were giving me the red error message. But the 3rd one stayed in CABLE CONNECTED, so I tried it 5 times with quick cable out then in. No luck.

Thanks, good to know some might not work so I don't look like an idiot plugging and unplugging!
