I have lost 3 of the flimsy clips that hold the sun screen panels in place to reduce the sun heat through the roof glass panel. I contacted the local service center and they do not carry them since it is an accessory. I called the main service customer care line and after 4 hours of waiting for a call, they told me I had to purchase new sun screen panels to get the clips. I told the representative that was crazy and she said there is no other option. As many of you know, those clips are flimsy and fall off if you breath on them. Anyone found a way to get replacement clips without having to buy new panels? Any help will be appreciated.

Seems like something a 3D printer could easily help with. I wonder if there is a 3d printer enthusiast among us.

Yes I can help with that but located in UAE.

I would bet you could find something similar online.

From ChatGPT:

I wasn't able to find an exact off-the-shelf replacement that has been confirmed to fit the Lucid OEM roof sunshade clips. Most owners either get replacements from Lucid or salvage clips from an aftermarket shade.

That said, there are a couple of generic options that are very similar:

  • Universal mesh sunshade frame clips(sold on Amazon, AliExpress, and eBay). Search for:
    • "mesh car roof sunshade rotating clip"
    • "wire frame sunshade clip 3 mm"
    • "automotive mesh sunshade retaining clips"
  • Dorman HELP! 74954 sunshade clips. These are intended for OEM window sunshades on some vehicles, but the size and shape are close enough that they may be adaptable if you're comfortable with a little modification.
If you can do one more thing, I can probably identify an almost exact match:

Take one of your remaining clips and upload:
  1. A photo from the side.
  2. A photo from the front.
  3. A ruler next to it showing its width (or measure the diameter of the wire frame it snaps onto—it's usually around 3 mm or 4 mm).
With those measurements, I can usually find an inexpensive generic clip (often under $10 for a pack of 20) that fits just as well as the Lucid original.

Losing clips and having to get replacements is a pain. I knew from day one that clips could fall off, so I count my clips and double check every time I take the sunshades on/off. You get a decent amount of extra ones, and even with the loss of three clips, you should have plenty.

Maybe we should start a spare clip exchange?

Damn i just noticed that i lost one clip on the passenger side and it wont stay up without the sun visor holding it. I was really hoping i wouldnt have to buy another sun screen but thanks for saving me the trouble of asking

Took some pics with freedom units, hopefully it helps either with 3d printing or finding the same generic clip size (if they exist):

You know those clips are in your car somewhere!

Ok, hear me out. I bought these bad boys on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08D3DM497?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_4&th=1. Customer reviews indicate that they are too large even as replacements for the Tesla 3/Y models they are designed for. However...I put these in a two or three spots to replace the originals and, by being larger, they actually slide under better and have not yet popped out once I got the initial installation right.

Full disclaimer, YMMV. But, easy 30-day return policy, so it's low-risk, high-reward.

I saw this post and had some downtime with some calipers

Looking Down from above, leading edge at top, clip at bottom:
Width at widest point: 2.77mm
Width at thinnest point on the leading edge: 22.7mm
Width at thinnest point on the clip side: 24.8mm
Small notches in clip side: 1.6mm

Rotated 90 degrees:
Length from clip to leading edge: 15.7mm
Clip length: 6.2mm
Leading edge length: 9.5mm

rotated on its side:
Clip tapers down from its deepest point to its edge:
clip max outside height: 6.9mm
clip min outside height: 6.4mm
Edge that fits under the lining: 0.6mm~0.7mm

Width of clip part: 1.2mm
Width of clip tooth part (Not sure what to call it): 2.0mm
Clip interior width: ~4mm
Interior distance between the notches on the clips: 11.7mm
Clip tooth part width is the entire distance between the 2 notches on both top and bottom
back of clip has 2 ~1.2mm wide and 11.7mm long square notches seperated by about a 0.5mm equal distance solid piece.

Thanks everyone for your assistance.....One thing I didn't know when I bought the shades is that there is a small plastic bag that comes with the shades that has 10 extra clips in it. The bag is at the very bottom of the big bag the shades came in. I turned my shade bag upside down and the small bag of 10 clips fall out. Issue solved!
