Has anyone tried to trade in their Air for a new one? My Air GT is barely 4yrs old with 30K miles and Lucid is offering $41K for it. pretty rough given I paid close to $140K for it as one of first adopters.

I’ve heard similar reports and that figure sounds like current wholesale give the year and mileage. They’ve all depreciated substantially and I imagine your car is also out of warranty now.

If you want another trade/sales price comparison plug your information into Carvana and see what they offer. My guess is it’ll be very close, maybe a couple thousand more, but you’re still looking at ~$95k in depreciation.

It’s not just Lucid. Taycan, eTrons, Teslas, and other EVs have experienced this.

Lease new, buy (depreciated) used.

I traded my '22GT with 37K miles to Lucid in December. They valued it at $44K which was $2-4K more than Carvana or any other place I shopped it. There is a 2K loyalty credit currently available.

In some states you also lower the sales tax due by the amount of the trade in

Yeah that is the way to go at least for EVs...

Why trade for new after so much depreciation? I would get the new uograded computer installed and run the car into the ground. You still get latest software updates.
