2025 Lucid Air Tour
Hello everyone,

I’d love your opinion and advice. I’m planning to buy a Lucid in the next couple of months and have narrowed it down mainly to a 2024 Air Touring, a 2024 Air Grand Touring, or possibly a 2025 Air Grand Touring.

This will be my seventh EV, and I plan to drive this car for 200,000 miles, so I’m trying to choose carefully.

My ideal configuration:

Zenith Red Metallic, Phantom Blue Metallic, or Stellar White
Platinum Appearance
DreamDrive Pro — non-negotiable
Glass canopy roof
19-inch wheels preferred, though I would consider 20-inch wheels
Surreal Sound Pro preferred

My main questions:

Is this configuration realistic to find, especially with DreamDrive Pro?

For long-term ownership, would you choose a 2024 or 2025?

In your opinion, how much real-world value is there in upgrading from Touring to Grand Touring?

How much does range mean to you? What were your other EVs? How many people do you want to regularly carry around?

Rationale for all: I have a regular AT. I have never driven the full AGT so I have no idea if it drives differently/quality that kind of thing. I love my regular AT and I've driven it on road trips up to 500ish miles (stopping once) and that's totally fine with me. The AGT puts more battery in the car so there is less leg room in the back. The rear seats in the AT are literally cavernous compared to any other sedan I've driven. They are smaller in the AGT.

I had a Tesla before this and have also driving Cadillac EVs. Depending on your other EV experience (in my OPINION) I don't think you'll be able to tell much difference between the AT and the AGT. If you are used to premium and luxury EVs, MAYBE I'd tell you its possible there's a difference, but that's for an AGT owner to tell you, not me.
 
I love my car... Welcome to this forum... It is a wealth of information. Everyone is at the core of who they are happy and love their cars! Truly....

They can be a "Labor of love" and sometimes feels like "LABOR" haha But there are not better cars out there. I believe that.

They are worth every frustration.

Any are great cars, but I would highly recommend that you make real leather seats a non-negotiable! The Pureluxe looks great but tears super easily!

Compared to leather interior the pleather has a chemical smell to me... I had a loaner here in AZ.... But when it is 118 outside... haha everything kinda stinks I guess.

2025 has the new CPU for the infotainment system, a heatpump for better efficiency, and they fixed some front motor noise issue, I think?

Speed aside, the GT has the big battery, so faster charging and longer range.

Another thing to consider with the wheels is that the 20" comes with summer tires vs all-season on the 19". I didn't realize that when I got my Pure otherwise, I probably would have traded some range for the grippier rubber.
 
Love my Zenith Red, can't go wrong there.

Like others have said, the 2025 MY will have a few upgrades that are probably worth holding out for. The GT does have the larger battery but you're sacrificing a small bit of legroom in the backseat. Could be something to consider depending on your scenario.

This is really a personal preference and depends on your needs. If you do long drives, get the Grand Touring. If you rarely do long drives, the Touring may be sufficient, but it’s a question only you can answer.

If you value range, get the 19” wheels and not the 20” (smallest wheels). Wheels makes a big difference.

Also, factor in 10%-20% battery degradation by the time you get to 200k miles. I like having a big battery as my daily drives fit within a 40% - 55% SOC window for optimal battery health. A smaller battery would be stressed more and degrade faster.

For me, personally, I do long drives on a regular basis and would get the Grand Touring. A friend of mine flys everywhere and is happy with his Touring - it has enough range for him.

Thank you for sharing your experience. My first car was a 2013 Nissan leaf. I love that car even though I only had 80 miles out the gate I put 80,000 miles on it then I got 2022 I think Nissan leaf then I got ionic 6SEL wrecked it then in 2023 aria platinum plus then I got a Kia EV six and now I want to move up to a lucid

I do long drives and I plan on doing quite a few. I have a business that is finally running Barry successfully on its own and I finally have the time in the resources to do whatever I want and I'm gonna travel in the lucid. I feel like right now the sweet spot is a 2024 GT I would like to have the 2025 GT because of the extra features but the price is about $20,000 more for that year bump
 
Doesn’t the 2024 GT have a heat pump and I can install the info entertainment ship later for $1000 right?

I believe 2024 GTs have a heat pump, if I recall correctly.

Also yes, the chip upgrade can be done later for roughly that amount
 
Welcome Bosscat! As others have said, you have to weigh these options for yourself. I set my sights on the AGT early on because of the range. I found that DDPro was the lmiting factor on availability, as the DDPro equipped AGTs disappeared quickly.
I wanted DDPro, SSP, and aluminum roof. I ended up settling for a glass roof, but got the sun shades and am perfectly happy with those. I did see some talk about the AGT having an uncomfortable rear seating position because of the larger battery/higher floor, but honestly I don't see that as being a real thing. Everyone who rides in the back talks about it being like a limo. I don't think you can go wrong with any version.

Three years and no odor from PurLuxe, but have had tears, which Lucid replaced under warranty.. The material is comfortable, but if you plan on keeping the car for long term I would be wary about the durability of the synthetic material.
