Question. A local neighbor who has a Lucid Air Pure, whose vehicle is a year younger than mine, recently had these batteries replaced. His car went dead in his garage and apparently the 12 v batteries were dead. They had to drag his car out of the garage (the towing company was unfamiliar with the battery access in the passenger side wheel well). This makes me a little concerned. My car is a year older and could be prone to this failure as well. Should I be concerned? Is there a way to check these?

While I know where the port is, is there a special connector for this? I've heard that field replacement by the owner is very discouraged. If this was to happen to me, what could i do? Attach a 12 volt temp battery to get it going or what?

12v batteries can last 1 to 5 years
have a reputable place test it.......

Technology makes it more difficult to replace a 12V battery.

In the old days, we didn't need 12V to open doors and the hood where the battery is.

Nowadays, with high tech, without 12V, we can't open doors to get to where the batteries are (1 in trunk, 1 under rear seats.)

I am very much against technologies that make a simple task much more difficulty.

But here we are, if your 12V is dead, you can call mobile service if available in your area. There is a procedure to retrieve the 12V leads to inject power to open doors and trunk. You can also pay for a tow to get Service Center to do that for you.

If not, you might want to pay to replace them early.
 
While Lucid provides 12v pigtails their location (under a fender liner) is not the most convenient. A better solution would be use a flip open charging port (rather than a powered one) with a 12V power plug next to the vehicle charging connector. A dead 12V battery could then easily be bypassed using a jumper pack.
