I'm questioning my sanity. I visited a Lucid showroom that had two Airs on the floor. One with Surreal Sound and one with Pro. The salesman did a blind test with me. They sounded pretty similar, and I guessed wrong! The salesman's point being that maybe I didn't need the Pro.

I love music. Sound system is a big consideration for me in my cars. I have 6 systems at home. I could totally hear the difference in the previous gen 7 series HK vs. B&W system. I admit that I was so psyched out thinking the Lucid system would be terrible based on the complaints. I was so relieved that it sounded "good enough", that I forgot about the test. I also forgot to use native Tidal, and streamed it. DOH! That's why I didn't hear any Atmos differences.

Now I wonder if the salesman was wrong? The salesman didn't seem to know I should use native Tidal. I seemed to get different information depending on who I talked to on other matters. Both salesmen were friendly, but they seemed more concerned with making sure I put in an order, instead of working to make the experience easier for me (I drove 5 hours to be there). Maybe they were both the same system? It seems hard to believe that I couldn't tell when 10 speakers and almost twice the power was added. Make it make sense!

Bring your own music on a USB stick. That way you can be sure of ATMOS encoded content. If you really are unsure if they are testing on a SSPro car, include the nonATMOS version as well.

I ended up with a Surreal Sound Pro vehicle, so moot point now. I will try the USB route at some point and see if I can hear a difference vs. native Tidal.

Use tidal and choose a song that has an Atmos version and a regular version and listen to them back to back. Dissident by Pearl Jam is one that has both versions on Tidal. Make sure you log out afterwards :)

good for you! my car is new but I'm really enjoying the SSP. Glad you got it.

SSP is the way to go for sure. Night and Day difference for me.

Smart decision. If music is as important to you as you indicate, the price increase for Pro is worth it. For someone listening to talk radio and pop music, maybe not so required.
