Air Touring
Hi All, I will be taking my new Lucid Air Touring this weekend, and frankly, I am a bit nervous to see all the bugs and issues discussed here. I have a Tesla Model S and despite some lack of luxury as expected from Tesla, it has been quite reliable and fun to drive, especially with the FSD feature that I enjoy from time to time. However, I wanted to try the Lucid Air Touring to see if it is actually superior and more luxurious than the Model S.
I understand that as an early adapter, there will be some bugs here and there that will eventually be solved and make the overall car better, but still who wants to deal with the nuances of such it that can be avoided.
So, I am getting ready to pick up my new Lucid and just want to see if the car is as great as the media says or more like what I see here with lots of small bugs that I will have to deal. Thank you for your input.

Congrats. It's a crap shoot. The experience ranges from super-happy (most people) to Im-selling-it (very few). I had bugs from the start, still have them, they are annoying but I don't regret the decision. And anyway, isn't it a bit late to be asking this kind of question? :)

Don't worry about this. I've been driving a Lucid since December 2021 and, with only one exception, it has never left me unable to drive it. And that was due to an issue with some early cars that has long been resolved.

Yes, a lot of people come here -- me included -- to discuss issues with their cars, to get advice, and to see whether others are experiencing similar problems. But having been on this forum almost since its inception, I can tell you that its has been chock full of people who love their Airs and think it the best car they've ever owned -- me included.

If you check out the Gravity Order Tracker on this forum, you will see that half the people ordering Gravities are people who already own Airs, and more than half those people (in fact, two-thirds at current count) are keeping their Airs when their Gravities arrive -- me included.

hiiiiiii! congrats on your new Air Touring!! 🥳 tbh i felt the same before getting a pre-owned Air, and especially nervous since you never know how rough the previous owner was with the car (and mine seemed to be lol)

while there have been small things from time to time, it’s barely memorable in context of the entire vehicle. ofc, manufacturing quality exists on a curve so always luck of the draw (but can be said about every other manufacturer, ICE or EV). the car is truly something else and interestingly, i enjoy it more as each day passes. i think it also helps that they still invest in the car post-purchase. in just the 3.5 months i’ve had mine, i think there’s been like 4 updates? which is pretty cool.

definitely nerve-wracking getting into something new, so i’m not downplaying that but also we’re psychologically wired to focus on negative information more than positive information, so yes - people have posted about things, myself included, but also many others have posted about how great the car is.

I'm coming up on a year with this, my first EV, and I'm as pleased as punch. The few issues we face today are nothing compared to what the REALLY early adopters muddled through. The roll-out of cool new features is really fun, and the issues we have are nothing compared to the joy of driving this car. I have 12k miles on our Pure AWD, which is very similar to your Touring, and it hasn't failed me once. Please don't let the nits (or the detractors) discourage you.

Sir, Google "nitwit" before using it please. Just because some of us are using facts instead of personal feelings, doesn't make us less equal to the ecstatic bunch.

Congratulations!! It is an amazing vehicle!

Air is my first EV (well, it is my wife’s now. I need to beg, steal, and borrow to get to drive it). It is the best car I have ever driven. So far, all issues I have faced are minor, and I have been super nitpicky. Frankly, there have been no complaints from my wife, the primary driver. I love that they have a robust roadmap and keep adding new features and addressing bugs. Service has been nothing but stellar. Having no service center in Dallas, they come to you and are always available over text for silly questions or concerns. I try not to bother them too much, but I never get a pushback when I have a question or concern.

I have been recommending the car to my friends and family; a few have already become owners. People were asking me if I get a commission—no, I don’t. I am already maxed out on my referral points. I want to share the joy that I missed until last July!

On top of that, I already have a Gravity on order!

You are correct. I should have googled it first, and re-edited my post. My apologies.

I've had my new Touring since April. I've only had two bugs during that time. One was the top screen didn't come on one time when I got in the car. I did a reboot and it immediately worked and never happened again. The other is the driver's side soft close doors only working intermittently since a couple months ago. That unfortunately is still ongoing, but only a minor inconvenience.

Did you not test drive one? I test drove a Model S a few weeks before the Lucid. I thought it was cool, but didn't immediately want to go out and buy one. I test drove a Lucid on a work trip to Chicago earlier this year and I did immediately know I had to have one. This was on a Thursday. I went home Friday, brought my wife back to Chicago the next morning so she could test drive one, and then we ordered ours that day at the studio. About to hit 7000 miles right now.

Anyway, congrats!

A forum is just like a hospital. You might wonder why there are so many sick patients.

I owned a Lucid since 2022 and the only issue is the rubber cosmetic trim that was fixed with super glue.

Software bugs are easy to solve: reboot or wait for the next revision. So far, none that affect the driving function of my Lucid.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences and view on the car. I am very excited and the replies here make me feel reassured that most owners are happy and not other way around.
I will come back and give more feedback as I enjoy my Touring. Thank you!

My guess, as I just came from 6 years with a Model S (sold yesterday; took delivery of my 2025 Touring a couple of weeks ago), is you will be captivated by the Air. There were many good things about the S, and I enjoyed it a lot. However, for me at least, the Touring is a substantial upgrade and I could not be happier with my decision. More luxurious? Absolutely. Superior? In a a lot of ways yes, a few no. I think future OTA updates will close the gap in the few areas the S is currently ahead. Even if those did not come, there's no way I'd go back.

Welcome! You’ve made a great choice. I have a Pure AWD (very similar to Touring), and for me it is the best car I’ve ever owned (previous vehicles include a BMW X5 and 328i). A few things stand out for me after ~7 months and ~7000 miles:
- First, the car. Phenomenal ride and handling balance, efficient, quiet, spacious, supremely capable overall, great service on the few occasions that I’ve needed it (that too for minor trim items). Yes the door unlocking could be a second or two faster, but for me, that’s about it.
- Second, the love. I’ve never seen so many people either in the real world or on forums echo that same sentiment: “best car I’ve ever owned” — for any other vehicle. Just this afternoon I saw a new GT in my community and complimented the owner. Her instant response: “I absolutely love it.” That should tell you something.
- Third, the selection bias on the forums. I’m guessing there are plenty of us who enjoy reading the forums, and even post occasionally, but really don’t have much to say other than to express our love for the vehicle from time to time. At least for me, it “just works” and is awesome. What more is there to say? :)

There are a huge number of people who moved from Tesla to Lucid on this forum, and I think all of them are happy with the decision. I’m sure you will be as well, so now just go enjoy the car!

Tesla was also my first EV experience and I give the Air higher marks in almost every regard. In my opinion the delta between the 'fanboys and haters' around here is how we react to the software/UX issues that these cars have. When viewed through the first world lens, they a minor nuisance. However, Lucid is a business competing in a very competitive market and there is a direct relationship between price paid and consumer entitlement for a car free of issues.

Just be prepared for updates that add features but disable existing features that require additional updates to fix. Today I downloaded 2.5.3 and now the blinker is blinking at double speed. But hey, now I can again adjust the color of the ambient lighting that 2.5 disabled . The OG's like to point to the the first UX being utter rubbish and how much better it is now, but as I continue to point out, someone new to the brand will be no where near as charitable.

Yay for you! Don’t even worry about the little issues because you won’t remember what they were when you get to driving her. Nothing drives like Luci — not even the Model S.

Bugs…. Shmuggggssss.
Get in your Luci baby and come back on here and tell us how much you wanted to keep driving instead of getting on here. 😜

The Lucid Air is my first EV and I fell in love with it immediately after the test drive. I bought one of the earlier touring's produced with the mindset that this is the first model from Lucid and will likely have some issues here and there. In retrospect the issues I've encountered were minor and none of them have prevented me from driving the car (knock on wood). Service has been great in resolving the issues and I still love driving this car 1.5 years later.

congratulations

I took delivery of my car this year and so far I see the bugs are small things and never stopped as they mentioned from enjoying the car

Here are the bugs that has been resolved for me and something all of the feel

App wake-up time … now it is fixed and lighting fast

Seat homing.. the new update 2.5 has fixed for me

Lighting behavior … has been updated to original

Soft closing ….. hit and miss for me and some pole

Animation …. Sometimes it is slow

Signal cameras …. A bit delayed in the new update

The point is I believe we have a reach a point where all the big bugs have been ironed out and lucid started to tine tone the software and add luxury features
