    Range question

Of course, I have driven that event in an NSX when we had a 40-mph headwind... no problem in the Acura, but I might be a DNS if similar conditions prevail in September.

    Range question

Well, a little more scientific approach says that the energy required is proportional to the square of the velocity, so it should take 2.25 times the energy to go 90 miles at 105 mph as to go 90 miles at 70 mph. So the 90 miles would look like 202.5 miles instead of just 90 miles. That means...

    Range question

LCIDdreams, thanks! So, 90 miles at 105 mph might require twice the normal consumption of electrical power, so it would be the equivalent of driving 180 miles at normal highway speeds. Even if the 90 miles takes three times the normal consumption, that would be 270 miles equivalent, to which I...

    Range question

Bill55 and Leo, thanks! You've given me more confidence. I'll let you know what happens in a few months. Oh, and the last 30 miles are at 60 mph average, so it should work out.

    Range question

Has anyone entered their Lucid in an Open Road Challenge event? I'm planning to enter my 2022 Lucid Air GT (with 19" wheels) in the Silver State Classic in September in Nevada. Range is the key question. From a full charge, I will need to travel 50 miles at about 65 mph, then 90 miles at 105...

Car backs up while in drive

Windscar, I hope you're right that this issue was resolved with a software update. I have religiously applied every update, and I have not been able to reproduce the problem, although I haven't tried to go in or out of my son's hillside garage in San Francisco since then either. Fingers crossed.

Car backs up while in drive

I reported this issue in May, 2022: Car goes forward when in Reverse and backwards when in Drive, assuming you're on an incline and the sensors don't like what they see. Post 1337. Here's what I said back then: Imagine that you're in an unfamiliar new car on a steep hill with busy traffic in...

Drive System Fault - Car stopped dead in the middle of the road

Dortreo, thanks! I agree that it seems like pretty good remote analysis by the Lucid technical team, and it's somewhat reassuring that the number of affected vehicles is likely to be small. I'll keep my fingers crossed when we go on a long trip in May - and I'll keep the reset procedure handy...

Drive System Fault - Car stopped dead in the middle of the road

I received a text from Consumer Reports: "CR Recall Tracker Alert: NHTSA has issued a new recall on your 2022 Air." They gave a link that I followed. It cites NHTSA recall Notice 23V110000 that says 637 potential number of units affected. The notice is dated 2/22/2023 "Power loss will shut...

Drive System Fault - Car stopped dead in the middle of the road

Recall Notice SR-23-01-0 is coming out (Lucid says on 4/21/2023, Consumer Reports says it's out now). Drive can fail. Solution said to be to replace contactor switches (and update software, but that's probably standard). If you call Lucid Customer Care, they tell you that they can't schedule...

Lucid, thanks for the fix! I too was confused with the "Immediate Charging" vs. "Scheduled Charging" but now that I understand it, it works fine.

New scheduled charging feature -- how is it supposed to work?

I was delighted that Scheduled Charging was part of the update! However, like many of you, I was confused when I tried the feature this morning. I expected the charging to start at 9 a.m., but it didn't. So, I disabled Scheduled Charging by sliding the button off, and it started charging...

Another trip report: this time in the rain at night, 130 miles round trip with my wife to have dinner with a high school classmate and her husband. Yes, high school, the best five years of my life. Thanks to Tesla2.0, I was able to work the navigation system just fine. And the car performed...
