This was an issue for me. They literally took a Dremel to the plastic trim around the trunk latch and it was working fine. Couldn’t even see/tell what they did. Didn’t need to remove bumper but YMMV.

Not that this helps folks, but my Homelink setup was easy and worked well. Of course, I keep the geofence turned off, but I’d do that even if there wasn’t an issue.

Why would you take up two spaces? I guess if you’re in an Air, that would happen - that’s what happens with my R1S. But a Gravity has the port in the perfect spot. The newest superchargers are centered in the spot and have longer cables.

Hate to say it, but I think this is another buggy thing. My save/reset buttons appear when I move my mirrors or seat, but often grayed out. Sometimes I can save, sometimes not. It does seem to remember when I do save.
