It definitely solves the problem. When you remove the power there is a tab across the top of the plug that you must depress to remove. Just make sure you do that with a short screwdriver or your finger if you can get your hands in there. It's tight, but can be done without removing the TCU...

car can be in park but you'll probably need to do an air reset after you reset the TCU. Did the same procedure this morning, but worked perfectly.

If you look at the image above and are facing the device in the car. The harness on the drivers side is what you unplug. It's the only one with multiple wires and wire tape on it. The other wires look like ethernet or other custom cables.
