Tesla Superchargers to open to all EVs in California

Musk sued to be considered a founder. So it must be true. There is that detail about him not even being part of the company when it was founded, but if you broaden the definition of founding to include everything up until the Roadster came out, he was a founder. The problem is that he changed...

Tesla Superchargers to open to all EVs in California

If I go to the section in the Tesla app that's now called "charge your other vehicle," I see three Superchargers in my entire state. If I tell the app that my "other vehicle" is a Ford, I see lots of Superchargers. As far as software issues go, there are obvious ones if the car is going to tell...

    USB Media Problem

I was also away for close to a month, and am now recovering from the trip and haven't used the car yet, so the world will have to survive with two fewer data points.

    USB Media Problem

Different drive on the other USB port. I had been told by someone at Lucid that the USB C port was faster but it turned out not to be the case.

Tesla wall charger to Lucid set up

I can imagine it. I can also imagine a set if standards for SDKs related to it, so that if I have a Tesla powerwall that's already monitoring what's coming to and from the grid, the same current transformers could let Lucid's equipment know. But I don't see that happening. The only situation I...

    USB Media Problem

I have had that issue, but very rarely recently. It used to be an issue in the past, and part of it might have been the drive or the port, since I'm not using either of those now. Or it might be unrelated.

    Updated Owner's manual

I did a web search and it's no longer as trivial to find as it was before, but as stated in a recent post, it's easy to find on the website once you log in. Indeed, Lucid goes so far as to say that the manual is customized to my vehicle, and it shows a different version for each software...

Speculation EV companies giving access to free ICE rentals for long distance

That could create range anxiety by giving potential buyers the impression that EVs can't handle road trips. With the Lucid, things are now at the point that a trip longer than what 99% of people take in a day won't need a charging stop. Even with my Tesla, with much less range, not only could I...

    Owner's Manual Errors

It's been years, and the only apparent update is that the manual says nothing about giving a choice. I searched online to see what other companies do, and they all seem to lock automatically at some point between 9 and 15 mph. I can't find any other that does what Lucid does. I don't want to...

Lucid out of the list for Supercharge spring 2024 release

True, but I never trusted Tesla on that to begin with. They were late with Autopilot...sort of. When it was first announced, I was surprised that with the numerous interviews that Musk did, I couldn't find a single one where he was asked about a timeline. That was long before he had a reputation...

    Parking/emergency brake

Essentially, yes. There's no way to lock the drive shaft electronically, short of using the power of the motor to overcome any rolling in any direction. If you parked on a hill, it would be the equivalent of holding your foot on the accelerator enough to keep the car from rolling. It makes no...

    Parking/emergency brake

That's true but I believe that he is right about there not being a cable. It likely uses a small motor on each caliper to "screw" things closed electronically by turning a gear to get the pads to clamp down. There's no cable that can break. If there's a fail in operation, since the calipers on...

Lucid out of the list for Supercharge spring 2024 release

Supposedly, the upcoming release will help the current owner of the Tesla with that feature that I paid for. So it might no longer be vaporware. The last time I used it, it worked about as well as I expected it to. But that expectation was in 2018. As for Tesla Superchargers vs EA, I had very...

Does Lucid sell my driving data to third-party for auto insurance purposes?

They can use driving data, in the broad sense of how many miles a car is driven per year. I don't know what the law says about the rest, but Tesla tracks driver data for its own insurance purposes and supposedly uses it. I don't have their insurance and don't know any more than that.

    Parking/emergency brake

Yes, open the door and get out of the car. It will engage the parking brake for you. On an EV, there's no difference between P and applying a parking brake. With an automatic transmission, P locks the transmission, and locks the steering column on modern cars. The parking brake pedal or lever...
