Yup - we had to do that too - so frustrating that phones with cases will NOT fit in the charging dock. I refuse to take my phone out of the case every time I need to charge it.

Oh man - this happens to me too! I hate that the wiper flings water at me after a heavy dew when I am entering the car in the morning. And it also drips down into the cabin when the door is open if the wiper decides to be activated. It really is rude!!
