Is full self driving being developed for Gravity?

Does Lucid require connectivity to plan a route? I know on our Gravity the sales associate said they downloaded the California maps. So I think there is a way to download maps to the gravity.

IDK but I wouldn’t use Lucid, Tesla OR Rivian route planning unless I had to. The one reason I wanted CarPlay was for Waze!

One thing the Lucid route planning has a built in EV Charging stop navigator (and the Tesla SC's which don't work on the Gravity won't show up). I consider this a huge win for long trips.

TBD. FSD literally goes point to point. Stopping at stop signs, getting off at exits, etc as folks know. We don’t know what 2++ will really do as it’s Lucid’s own definition. It would have to be massive steps up from the hands off, eyes on we have now for Gravity.

Hands off, eyes on is only for certain highways right now. I love it. But it’s a long way from FSD. Which, for me, is fine.

For now, I need apple key more than more ADAS. I hate carrying a fob.

The hardware is already in Gravity. At least those with DDPro2. What's confusing to me is whether non-DDPro2 Gravity's have the same chip, or if it's just a sensor suite difference. This chip is meant to get to L2++ with cameras only, so if all Gravity's have it, I don't see why they wouldn't all be able to achieve L2++ eventually.

All Gravity from beginning have had the Orin processor which is what the Mercedes was using for Demo and Lucid has already stated that all existing Gravity with DDP will get the NVIDIA ADAS by end of year (which in Lucid speak means sometime in early 2027 if we are lucky.). The biggest thing I like about the NVIDIA system vs FSD is that you can add input while system is working to “suggest” course of action such as turn wheel to avoid pot hole, tap accelerator is stalled in a situation, etc, without causing system to disengage. Once you make your correction, system immediately takes back over. With FSD, any input by driver causes system to disengage.

I've been a Waze user since the very early days, when you could collect candy, and "munch" to map new roads, but honestly I feel like the Waze routing has kind of turned to crap over the past year or so. It used to be so great but now it's started giving me absurd routes that make no sense (and aren't just routing around traffic).

It's gotten to the point where I've started to sometimes prefer the Lucid Nav - in part because it looks so much better, but also because aside from a few illegal left turns it keeps wanting me to do, it's not been any worse than Waze. Though I do miss the hazard/police warnings.

I find the police and other warnings super helpful. It also seems to have much better traffic data and routing. But, I agree, Waze isn’t as far ahead as it used to be.

Lucid still takes me a) the longer / more maze like way b) through one way streets and c) routes me right into traffic jams. To be fair, our Rivian which has “Google Maps”
is equally poor.

Waze has taken me on some weird routes of late, enough so that I am not very confident in its abilities. I have started to use other apps.

BTW, if you leave the Waze app open without using it for guidance, it will still give you police warnings as you travel..

I should have added that Lucid’s nav is still terrible for me. I honestly think something based on the Lewis and Clark Expedition would be more accurate than however Lucid comes up with their navigation directions…but that’s why I love CarPlay. Pretty much the only reason I wanted CarPlay was for navigation.

I run Waze and Lucid side-by-side on almost every drive, primarily for the alerts.

Waze does better on predictable changing traffic patterns, such as at the beginning of rush hour where certain routes will get drastically worse, or the tail end of rush hour where some routes will get drastically better. What I’ve found is that the combination of Lucid and Waze is the best route, using my own judgement.

During my commute (which I’ve done over and over on various routes), following some Lucid turns will sometimes cause Waze to decrease the arrival time, and sometimes following Waze turns will decrease the Lucid arrival time. Both systems know there is a better route, but for whatever reason, don’t continuously search.

Other than predictable historical traffic rush-hour traffic pattern changes which Lucid doesn’t account for, Lucid routes are very comparable to Waze routes. The routes may be slightly different, but the predicted arrival time is within a minute and are accurate.

Yes, there are occasional Lucid routing hiccups, more so than Waze, but not frequent or bad enough for me to use CarPlay. The Lucid nav display is so much better that I just stick with the built in nav. In a pinch, I have Waze running in the background, anyway, but I can’t remember the last time Lucid nav didn’t get me to where wanted to go.

BTW, I ditched Google and Apple Maps routing. They stuck to major roads too much when there were better routes.

Both Apple and Google Maps offer a full route overview in CP if you want them. Waze does not, for whatever dumb reason.

I think that Google would just as soon let Waze slowly disappear. They's already incorporated its best features into Google Maps.

FWIW, I agree in general, but find the reporting in Waze by folks to be much better and used more often than Google Maps. Waze still has quite a following and even though I know it’s Google, I won’t use Google Maps and Apples Maps is a crapshoot so might as well use Lucid Nav if I get to that point.

I'd expect that Google Maps and Waze have been using the same reporting database since Google bought Waze and began copying features from it. I could be wrong of course.
We just use Google Maps and report there / get notifications from there. It's very very handy on beautiful weekend mornings when the highway patrol is watching.

Waze has gamified reporting. Who doesn’t like collecting those gems ?

It would be interesting to see the number of reports via Google Maps versus Waze. I hate to say it, but the number of reports I’ve done through Google Maps is zero - I didn’t even know that was a thing.
