According to Nick Twork (Lucid’s head of communications), the somewhat less expensive Gravity Touring model will start being delivered in December. Hard to imagine it will significantly impact Q4 deliveries given how late in the quarter that will be. It will be interesting to see what the demand for it will be since people waiting for a less expensive Lucid SUV may choose to wait for the smaller and even less expensive midsize model projected to start deliveries end of 2026.

Where did you read that midsize delivery is projected to start at end of 2026? Do you mean to be released maybe?

You’re right. Midsize slated to be released end of 2026 with deliveries ramping up in 2027.

I expect they will release it at the LA Auto show in 2 weeks. CEO mentioned the US NACs cars still had some supply constraints, so all the Touring's were getting sent to KSA. I will be the first to order one since I didn't want a more expensive version with lots of bugs.

Interestingly during the investor's call, Marc Winterhoff cited a situation where they encountered issues with the magnets for Gravities, so instead they opted to ship out Gravity Touring models for final assembly in the Saudi Arabia plant.

I think it's possible for both Gravity Touring and high-end midsize to coexist. During the investor's call, Marc also said they've made improvements to the Bill of Materials (BOM) to midsize, so I think midsize Grand Touring still has some distinct price differentiation compared to Gravity Touring. That way, Gravity still serves the distinct luxury market, while midsize served the more affordable end

It won’t be in the US as you can’t even order one yet, right? I think they’ve been available to order in KSA for a bit of time now. Not sure.

Regardless, will be interesting to see how they differentiate from GGT base model. It’s “easy” to not offer dynamic handling, etc, but the have to strip away costs from the GGT. Will it be more like an Air Pure? We shall see.

I’m intrigued. Would love for my wife to have one. With two kids under 5 I don’t need the top spec.

The battery alone is 15K price difference and that will be the only difference, just like the Air Touring and Air GT.

Correct, it's the same except for the battery and less HP

Yes you are talking about a Mid-size that will have less power, and a smaller interior and packaging, no trays, no hud etc. It will likely be the better car for most people anyways, they could do a Tesla Model Y L type thing with longer body and 3rd row. Will use Atlas motors, so more efficient, but much less power. Much of the cost out is significantly higher efficiency which means a much cheaper and smaller battery and battery chemistry, so worse charging as well.

Worse charging on a kw level but possibly better charging on a miles added per minute basis. Which is what really matters (just ask Hummer owners).

That makes no sense to me. So the BEST range on a Touring will be 310 miles? That would be a five seater with 20/21” wheels? Maybe the lower HP will increase range significantly?

So a 21/22” with seven seats would be close to 270 miles max? Doesn’t seem like Lucid is going to want to offer that limited range - not in line with their reputation for range.

...EPA range, not real life range 🙂

That’s my point, kind of. Real range will be even worse which won’t help or be competitive to attract non early adopters. If the EPA Touring range does end up being so low.

The touring is lighter and more efficient than the GGT. Probably a 5-seat on the 20/21 will EPA around 400 or 385. I am expecting the mid-wheels to be around 350.

The Touring will have 18 modules in the battery pack versus 22 for the GT. Not counting efficiency improvement for the lower weight, that makes a range of 368. Accounting to the weight will bring it close to somewhere around 390 miles of range.
